Sidelinez is a fantastic project that brings sports teams, artists and
designers to work together creatively to enhance and promote their sport.
Phase two is now complete and built on the success of the pilot that took place in 2009. The pilot involved Shirebrook Football Club working with an artist to design personalized numbers on the back of their football shirts. This was so successful that we were encouraged to begin planning phase two in which sports teams from across the broader North East Derbyshire area would be invited to take part.
After a targeted marketing campaign, a wide variety of sports clubs contacted Junction Arts with lots of ideas of things they’d like to do, including designing a new team kit, making a film or designing a website. Finally six teams were short-listed and they were:
Blackwell Miners Welfare Cricket Club
Tibshelf Football Club
Chesterfield and District Athletics Club
Staveley Table Tennis Club
Chesterfield Mini Hockey Club
Chesterfield Cobras Volleyball Club
Junction Arts commissioned Creative Forum to deliver the project and they visited each team to discuss their ideas and draw up a plan of action.
Members of each club worked closely with Creative Forum to achieve their ideas, all of which have now come to a successful conclusion. For more information about the teams, and to see what they did, view their individual web page on this site.
This has been a very rewarding project for Junction Arts, especially working with so many committed volunteers. We are now exploring funding options for the next exciting phase of Sidelinez that we hope to deliver later in 2012.
